The Bank

BBVA Banco Francés was able to adapt to the new market conditions and remain one of the leaders in the Argentine Financial.

In this context; the Bank continues to focus on increasing financings in its three market segments, with a special emphasis on the most profitable segments; boosting its business mix and keeping its strict risk policy, which allowed it to have the lowest non-performing ratio in the financial system.

In terms of liabilities, the priority for the Bank is to focus on retail funds; increasing transactional participation as a percentage of total deposits.

In a year of uncertainties, efficiency is another of the fundamental pillars of BBVA Banco Francés strategy, which implies an important effort in order to make expenses useful; while strengthening the transactional business at the same time.

The Bank has higher levels of liquidity and solvency, the best non-performing ratio in the financial system, good results in line with the strategy implemented, and it also maintains a solid relationship with its clients. During the current year it re-launched the concept of mobile banking, a tool, which allows customers to handle questions and transactions through their mobile phones.

With over AR$ 25.8 billion assets under management as of September 30, 2009, and a deposits base of AR$ 18.0 billion, BBVA Banco Francés is one of the main provider of financial and non-financial services to the different markets’ segments, through a nationwide network of 240 consumer branch offices, 27 branch offices specialized in the middle-market segment and 4 branch offices for large corporate and institutional clients. At the same time the Bank has constantly worked in its distribution scheme, seeking to satisfy a stricter demand.

Furthermore, the Bank conducts capital markets and securities operations directly, in the over-the-counter market, and through a subsidiary, in the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange.

Banco Francés (from Rio de La Plata) was founded in Buenos Aires in 1886. For almost a century it provided banking services to large companies in Argentina. During the 80's, it expanded a network of branches throughout the country that enabled it to broaden its client base to include small and medium sized enterprises and individuals.

In December 1996, Banco Bilbao Vizcaya S.A. (currently Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, "BBVA") acquired 99.90% of the capital stock of Otar S.R.L., majority shareholder of Sud América Inversiones S.A., which in turn owned 30.04% of the capital stock of Banco Francés. By the end of the third quarter of fiscal year 2009 BBVA owned 75.97 % of the Bank’capital stock.
